I love working from home. For many, many reasons, such as being able to work in many different types of attire (or none, if I really don't feel like putting clothes on, dammit). Another is, I can run upstairs, cook some tomato soup in the microwave (my choice today), and then sit down for lunch with the tellie set on *anything I want*, at any time I want (for the most part). Just like today.
So, I'm sitting down, slurping my delicious Campbell's over-salted, creamy tomato soup (with shredded cheddar and a little packet of oyster crackers left over from my son's daycare snack, for flavor) and decided that I would watch a little television. Initially, I put on a game show- Family Feud, to be exact- because that is some good mindless dribble, and I like that sometimes. Shortly, a commercial came on and I decided to flip around to see what else was on. I saw that "Cops" was on, so I decided to switch to that, since it is one of CK's favorites.
I was half-ass paying attention, when suddenly I see someone on the show that I know! I KID YOU NOT!!! I holler to CK, who was in the kitchen to look at the TV because there's a guy I went to jr. high and high school with who was on "Cops"! He looked at me like I was nuts, til I said, "I swear, that guy looks JUST like Scott Fisher!".
Pretty soon, on the screen comes across, "Officer Scott Fisher", and he is running IOWA license plates! I am so not even kidding here. He is a Des Moines cop! I can't believe that they actually had "Cops" taping in Des Moines, let alone the fact that an 8-year classmate (go class of 1990!--Woo hoo!!!) was the arresting officer!
So, that was my little random "celebrity sighting". At least he will be now, eh? Move over BJ! The whole thing was just so random and weird (my choice to actually turn on the TV after having it be blissfully TV-free for the morning hours was strange in and of itself. Let alone that I chose THAT program out of the hundreds to choose from!).
One funny thing I have to mention, is that when I was back in Iowa that time that my brother and all his buddies got together, I had my own little pow-wow with Tami Davitt and Stacy Smith. Well, we were all telling stories (I think I was the biggest chatterbox, go figure. Poor Tam and Stac...), and Tami said that once she was speeding and got pulled over by Scott! And since we were all in the same class together, even though he didn't recognize her (the big bangs are gone...so sad), he let her off. Without even a warning, I don't think!
So, we don't even talk about Scott Fisher for how many years, and suddenly he comes up in conversation, and then on television. So flippin' weird!
That's all for now. I'll tell you about my elevator experience tomorrow or something, if I don't have any better fodder.
